Opening its doors on 24 December 1904 as the London Coliseum Theatre of Varieties, the purpose was to build the “people’s palace of entertainment”. With 2,359 seats on 3 tiers, it is still one of London’s largest and luxurious theatres, and is home to the English National Opera and the English National Ballet.
