Created to advertise Aristide Bruant’s appearance at the Eldorado cabaret, Lautrec adapted his earlier Ambassadeurs design by reversing the singer’s pose and rearranging the lettering, while retaining the black hat, red scarf and dark cloak that defined Bruant’s public image.
