In May 2012, the first stopwatch ever made was sold in auction by Christie's at Geneva's Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues. Made by Louis Moinet of Paris, hallmarks dating 1816, the CEO of the modern Moinet watch company purchased the historical piece for US$67,443.
