Hamburg measures 291 square miles (755.22 km2). Opening in 1678, the city is home to the oldest opera house in Germany. Unknown to many, the Beatles got their start, not in Liverpool, but in Hamburg. They played an estimated 273 shows in the city from 1960-1962.
