Aristide Bruant, a celebrated French cabaret singer and performer, reportedly insisted Toulouse-Lautrec design his Ambassadeurs poster. Lautrec later adapted the striking image for the Eldorado, reversing Bruant’s pose while retaining his iconic black hat, red scarf and cloak.
