The Chinese silks and leather shapes skilfully portray the Bodhisattva Manjushri, whose name means Gentle Glory in Sanskrit. Considered a fully enlightened Buddha, the sword portrayed to left of the head represents the cutting away of delusion, and the book to the right, representing the Prajnaparamita - the Perfection of (Transcendent) Wisdom.
