Japanese camellia, or tsubaki in Japanese, is one of the best known species of the genus Camellia. The flower represents love and affection, and in Victorian England, the flower sent the message that the recipient was adorable. Illustration by botanist Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759–1840).
